11 year and still going on Strong

Where do you find the best coffee in the whole Kathmandu? The answer will be the Japanese Coffee shop at Jyatha which is popularly known as Chikusa Café. Chikusa Café, established in July 19, 1998 and has been serving great coffee from day one. Chikusa doesn't only serve great coffee but also some tasty breakfast. The small yet cozy place is idea for everyone from foreigner to Nepali. Friendly environment, great coffee and food are some of the assets of Chikusa Café. For few Chikusa is their second home. Today, Chikusa has completed its 11th year.

On behalf of all Chikusa Habitue, I, Yudina Poudel take the privilege to congratulate the owner of Chikusa (Mr. Bishnu Thapa and Mr. Ram Kumar Thapa) for completing its 11th year of serving great coffee.

Someone is Getting Older!!!

A well known Spanish speaking Chikusa habitue, running a website developing company is 26, today(June 30, 2010). This is the same person who first took to me Chikusa. This person doesn't like to be in contact with anyone in this date, previous year and year before that he switched off his cell phone, didn't come in contact with any of his friend. Lets hope this year would be different. This particular person likes to visit temples on this date.

The Madagascar Penguin

June 23, 2010 a rainy was ideal to watch The Madagascar Penguins with Bibhu Dai on his brand new Mac. Mr. Rajbhandari was stuck there due to the heavy downpour and what better way to spend the downpour with some “Madagascar Penguins. The picture quality and sound were so amazing; we were struck by the mind blowing picture quality. The laughter during "The Show" was tremendous. Bibhu dai added " There are plenty of these where it came from". Looking forward for another round of " The Madagascar Penguins".

P.S : Don't forget to bring your own popcorn!!!

Lost?

Apparently, the chikusa presence on the cyberworld has not been recorded since the beginning of this month. And yours truly was wondering is it the football fever or some other fever that has kept the regular visitors to this place from tapping their fingers at the keyboards...
No post for almost a month... Is that what we're looking for?

Meeting the In-Laws

Our very own Suresh dai is leaving for Germany today(May 28, 2010) at 7:00 pm to meet his in-laws. As per my conversation with Suresh dai on facebook chat he mentioned he will be staying there for 2 and half months. Said he will be " Ghar Jawai" for the coming 2 and half months. During the stay (i.e 2 and half months) he will be roaming around Germany coolest and nicest cafe. Sipping coffee and missing Chikusa.

Suraj Dai Leaving

Suraj Shakya, a Chikusa habitué is returning back to America today(May 12, 2010) at 1.00 pm. We will miss u Suraj Dai!!

Bag being Packed

As per Suraj dai's telephonic conversation with his travel agent he is confused regarding his route. He was actually planning to go via Singapore but after Motae dai told him that there won't be a smoking zone at Singapore airport Suraj dai is having second thoughts about his route. As per Suraj dai he will be leaving for amrika around the first week of May.

Chikusa gang @ 9 dhara

Few selected chikusa gang were spoted around NauDhara, Godawari, yesterday. The occasion was rice-feeding ceremony of Pushpa KC, the Photographer and gentleman's son Sarthak. We were all laughing till die, Rajesh, the webmaster and programmer said.

Congratulation to Sarthak and his happy parents !!!

Momotaru

The mysteriously lost patron of Chikusa has been sighted at Momotaru Restaurant at Deheko Patan. This poster, has learnt from confidential informants that alot of the chikusa family are soon to show up to this very spot for New Years, despite Monday being a Nepal Bandh.

Trek Cancelled

Mote dai has cancelled his trek due to knee pain. As per him, he will be back after some day . Today i.e April 6, 2010 his plan is to go to some mountaineering museum. Also, today he will be travelling via scooter because he car is being fixed. Some problem occurred when he was driving. He had to drive his car at the speed of 30-40 K mph. As per him, it was very difficult for him to drive his car at that speed. Also, tomorrow he will be accompanied by one of his friend and her hubby. It is Sampe di who will be giving him company there.

Motae getting lost

It it just in that our very own Sumit Sharma is going to do the disappearing act for at least a week. Some random parts of the overheard conversation signaled that he would be going to Pokhara and its surroundings. One of the Chikusa patrons also claimed that he will be going to Jomsom, while most others were speculating that he will go to Ghandruk-Ghorepani. Nobody is sure about his plan. Whatever his mission or the destination is, he has left even his closest compadres in the dark.

Dhir don missing !!!

Mr Dhir Lalit, a living dictionary, encyclopedia, francophone, cross-word solver, sudoku crazy and of course a Chikusa habitué is absent since fews days.
'The last news we have is he is not feeling well since his 27'' iMac betrayed him where he had all his photographs taken all over the world', a chikusa insider murmured us.

Spotted!!!

A few (roughly four in number) alleged Chikusa loyalists were spotted at a non-descript place around the famous Boudhanath stupa on 1st of April evening, gorging at some exotic appearing 'Buff veggie' and 'Chicken potate' and some dough cakes made to appear like bombs.
Later, they were spotted in a location less than a hundred meters from chikusa, having coffee, our highly placed source, who shall remain unnamed here and should remain jobless anywhere for overspeaking, told us.
The same source could not confirm on the alleged loyalists' un-loyal act. The source, now acting as a force in this column, has contemplated suggesting chikusa managers to have some exotic appearing food, besides sandwich too...

Mr Naresh BHATTARAI, a regular chikusa café habitué, has opened his own resturant at chic boulvard of Lazimpat, Tandav, named after the great cosmic dance of Shiva. 10% discout to all chikusa habitué, according to Chikusa-insiders.
